Controlling the Scrolling Text & Realigning Any Overlapping Article Frames

To pause the scroll, hover over or click on an item. To start from the beginning, refresh the page. The best display is on a desktop or laptop (wider screens). On a tablet, rotate between vertical and horizontal display to find the ideal experience. Remember that different tablets have different screen sizes—the wider, the better viewing will be.

On a tablet or other small screen, if any frames holding news articles overlap, rotate the screen view and they should realign properly.

Handyperson Services Resume

Fearrington Cares Handyperson volunteers can now once again help with minor non-emergency home repairs and small maintenance issues in homes where individuals have completed a vaccination regime. To request help, please call the Center 919-542-6877. We will share our protocols to keep you and our volunteers safe.
Medicare covers the COVID-19 vaccine, so there will be no cost to you. If anyone asks you to share your Medicare Number or pay for access to the vaccine, you can bet it’s a scam. Here’s what to know: • You can’t pay to put your name on a list to get the vaccine. • You can’t pay to get early access to a vaccine. • Don’t share your personal or financial information if someone calls, texts, or emails you promising access to the vaccine for a fee. If you come across a COVID-19 vaccine scam, report it to the Federal Trade Commission or call MEDICARE at 1-800-MEDICARE. And check out CDC.gov for trustworthy information on the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • COVID-19 Current Information Page

To a very small degree, Fearrington Village residents look to Fearrington Cares for information about health and well-being. Since accurate and current information is the bedrock of managing any potential threat to residents, Fearrington Cares is providing an information page on our web site for the infectious disease COVID-19.

  • Center Activity Update June 04, 2020

A NOTE FROM KAREN METZGUER, NURSE & DIRECTOR

Fearrington Cares Center remains closed for 2 reasons: state guidance related to COVID-19 and to complete our building renovations.

President Barbara Hummel-Rossi provided a summary of our building progress to the community in an email 2 weeks ago; this summary currently found on our website under "Building Updates."

The heart of Fearrington Cares is our 250+ Volunteers, the majority of whom are considered high risk if infected with the Corona virus. Additionally, 100% of our services put a Volunteer within 6 feet of you; this is the minimum distance recommended for physical distancing. For these reasons, Fearrington Cares traditional services are currently suspended.

I describe Fearrington Cares as a "high touch not a high tech" organization. Unable to perform our services during the NC stay at home executive orders, on my recommendation, the staff and I have been furloughed for the past 2 months. I am writing a proposal for steps to begin reopening when the building is completed and we are allowed to use it. You are still "safer at home" and I hope you are limiting your outings and using masks.

Fearrington Cares services that are most valued by the community do not lend themselves to the digital world. However, we now have movement classes and a support group online; information about them is on our home page. We are loaning equipment, picking up prescriptions and groceries. We will have the health and safety of our Volunteers and all residents at the forefront of the challenging decisions we are making.

Our website is a great resource for new classes and meetings we are adding to our virtual programming.

Check out the digital services available while the Center remains closed.
