Services I offer include:
- Occasional walks, and daily walks for dogs
- Daily visits for cats
- Pet sitting overnight; I stay at your house and care for your pets as you instruct.
- Above all, I do this service with love and kindness.
Comment from a Fearrington Village Resident:
“Barbara is fabulous!! A fellow dog owner recommended her when I got my little guy 9 years ago and she’s wonderful. Since I still work full-time, I use her regularly every afternoon for walks and also for pet-sitting. She’s like family to us and my fur baby loves her. Her Vet tech knowledge has also been handy numerous times. She is reliable, punctual, and trustworthy. She loves her “clients” just like they were her own. You can’t go wrong using Barbara.”
“I’ve had the same wonderful dog walker and pet sitter since moving to Fearrington 4 years ago, and she now has some openings for new clients. Can’t say enough good things about Barbara Hatcher. My dog watches for her all morning every week day and goes crazy when she arrives. Barb is a dog whisperer, former vet tech, and all around great person. My cats love her too. And when she pet sits, she leaves the house spic and span.”“I can recommend Barbara Hatcher also—she has come to feed my cats for 5-6 years (when I was away) and they love her— she is a lovely person and just the best, truly loves animals.”

Cole Park Veterinary Hospital started out small and has grown into a contributing resource for animal care for Chatham, Orange and Durham Counties, NC. Great things often have humble beginnings. While Cole Park Veterinary Hospital began with two exam rooms and three full time staff, we have over 28 animal care professionals and 5,000 sq. ft of treatment facilities, including full boarding and grooming services.
Cole Park Veterinary Hospital provides the care and services one would expect to find in a veterinary facility, including annual exams, sick pet exams, in-house lab testing, surgeries, hospitalized care, radiology, dental cleaning, vaccinations and boarding services. We use Antech as our reference blood laboratory with 2 daily pick-ups.
In addition to the more traditional professional services, Cole Park Veterinary Hospital takes pride in our offering of complementary therapies. Dr Patricia Pagel is a certified veterinary acupuncturist, as is Dr Michelle Droke. Complementary therapy is often an effective aid to rehabilitation of injuries as well as chronic health conditions.
Comment by a Fearrington Village Resident
“We had the good fortune of finding Cole Park Veterinary Hospital on 15/501 and placing [our dog] in the excellent care of Dr. Michelle Droke!!! [she is Dr. Lori Droke’s sister). She was the one to first find [his] cancer and set him up with the Veterinary Specialty Hospital for treatment. She has kept excellent close tabs on our boy for a number of years. We cannot begin to express our gratitude for the loving care [he] received at her hands. The staff at Cole Park was also always so very kind and supportive, so much so that they made a donation in [his] honor to the hospital’s Mug Fund that provides life saving support for injured animals!”

ABOUT DR. LAURIE DROKE: “I am originally from Fort Worth, Texas. In 1998, I received my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University. For the next 10 years I practiced in Palo Alto, California. In 2008, I accepted an international position as a humane society veterinarian in San Pedro, Belize, on the island of Ambergris Caye. The next year, I opened the first private animal hospital on the island, the San Pedro Animal Hospital, along with the associated San Pedro Animal Foundation. “Highly recommend Dr. Laurie Droke Fearrington veterinary house calls. She is kind, compassionate and professional.”
“We would like to sing the praises of Dr Laurie Droke of Fearrington Veterinary House Calls. Recently it became clear after a long battle with cancer for our dog Mutt, it was time to end the ordeal. We really wanted to do it at our/his home. Neighbors and as our regular vet recommended Dr Laurie Droke to help us in our time of need. When we contacted her, she was able to respond quickly and we had our first visit almost right away. She was great with both us and Mutt. We had scheduled a second visit in a week but only 3 days later it became obvious that the time had come. We called Dr Droke and even though it was a Saturday, she was able to come over that afternoon. Dr Droke is a very compassionate person and helped us immensely through this final process. We don’t think you could find a better vet.”
“Laurie Droke, Fearrington Veterinary House Calls, is my cat’s primary medical care giver and she’s great.”
