The Fall Semester of Fearrington Cares Education programming will begin in September, following a summer recess, which began in June.
Please visit this page for details about the services (including Zoom classes) we are able to provide while we are in Phase 2 of our re-opening plan. We are excited to be able to increase some uses of our new facility while protecting the health and safety of both staff and residents.
The description below refers to programming before March 17, 2020, when in-person program venues were closed for public safety with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are hoping to be able to return to in-person program sessions by the fall of 2021.
The Education Committee plans Educational opportunities each month from September through June of each year. Typically the lectures are held on Thursdays at The Gathering Place with the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. and the fourth Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The lectures cover a wide variety of health related topics, such as hypertension, macular degeneration, healthy cooking, exercise, long term care insurance, hospice and diabetes.
Occasionally, Fearrington Cares may sponsor a Lunch and Learn, or a one-time seminar to educate villagers on a particular topic. These seminars are listed in the FHA newsletter, in the Fearrington Cares E-Cares correspondence and on our website.
Our nurse/Executive Director has a broad knowledge of health and resources in the area and is available to meet with residents one on one to discuss health concerns, test results and coordination of care.
