The Education Committee plans Educational opportunities each month from September through June of each year. Typically the lectures are held on Thursdays at The Gathering Place with the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. and the fourth Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The lectures cover a wide variety of health related topics, such as hypertension, macular degeneration, healthy cooking, exercise, long term care insurance, hospice and diabetes.
Occasionally, Fearrington Cares may sponsor a Lunch and Learn, or a one-time seminar to educate villagers on a particular topic. These seminars are listed in the FHA newsletter, in the Fearrington Cares E-Cares correspondence and on our website.
Action Groups on Housing and Life Matters typically are offered twice a year. These popular series offer participants of all ages information, resources and encouragement to address difficult topics and tasks related to end of life planning or making a decision to change one’s residence. These two series include two facilitated sessions. Theyrequire registration and are announced in the FHA newsletter, in the Fearrington Cares E-Cares correspondence and on our website.
Our nurse/Executive Director has a broad knowledge of health and resources in the area and is available to meet with residents one on one to discuss health concerns, test results and coordination of care.
