Fearrington Cares transportation and handyperson services will be available over the July 4th holiday even though the Center will be closed. If you need a driver for a medical appointment or a handyperson, call us at 919-542-6877 and leave a message. A volunteer will call you back.
Care Circle for Women meets Thursdays starting July 14 to help women who have lost a spouse or partner in the last three years. Help us design this new support group.
Small In-Person Get Togethers:
Busy Hands Together: Want to socialize with a small group of neighbors in a safe setting? Everyone must be fully vaccinated and practice social distancing. Masks are optional. Busy Hands Together meets on Tuesdays from 9:30 – 11:00 am. The next meetings is June 21. This will be our last meeting before a summer hiatus in July and August. We’ll resume in September.
Crossroad Connections: Hard Choices for Loving People. Wednesday, July 13 and repeated Wednesday, August 10.
Karen Metzguer, RN, will review and discuss information in a book she regularly recommends to families faced with difficult decisions when a loved one is critically ill. When do medical treatments prolong death rather than promote recovery?
Crossroad Connections: Aging in Community. Wednesday, July 27 and Wednesday, August 24
As we age, many of us want to stay in our own homes but find them more difficult to manage safely. Keeping a home safe entails more than just installing grab bars in the shower and begins with the recognition that “all important decisions are made on the basis of insufficient data.” Join Karen Metzguer, RN for this lively discussion.
Fearrington Faces profiles four of our neighbors each year. The most recent profile features Anne Dobson, who volunteers as a driver for FC and is instrumental in making the FC Vendor List such a valuable resource for everyone in Fearrington Village and Galloway Ridge.
