Handyperson volunteers can help residents with minor, nonemergency home repairs and small maintenance tasks. For example, handypersons can change light bulbs, do minor carpentry and plumbing, program garage door openers, and replace smoke detector batteries. Volunteers cannot move heavy furniture. Because of licensing regulations, they cannot do electrical or major plumbing work.
To schedule a handyperson, call the Center. If you call after hours, leave a message that includes your name, your phone number, and a brief description of your task. A handyperson will contact you within a day or two to arrange a visit.
