Hearing Loss and Cognitive Decline

Did you know that hearing loss is the biggest modifiable risk factor for cognitive decline, and it can account for up to 9% of new dementia cases? Hearing loss also is associated with increased instances of depression, from UNC School of Medicine Doctor of Audiology Program, associated with depression. Darla McDonald, Doctoral Student in Audiology, UNC School of Medicine will be presenter.  Dr. Caitlyn Whitson, Audiologist, will also be present to answer questions.  Click here for a Zoom video on this presentation. Mindful Aging: Practical Tips for a Healthy Brain

Aging happens, so the goal for most of us is to do it as well as we can. Join Emily Cetrone, MD, who will discuss normal cognitive aging and distinguish it from more serious causes of cognitive changes.  She will also share some practical tips that have been shown to slow cognitive decline.
